VIRGINIA BEACH, VA –TASTE is thrilled to announce the grand opening of TASTE Ghent at 407 West 21st Street, in Norfolk, and its return to the Ghent neighborhood. The 6,000 square foot location features several new concepts including a Borjo Drinkbar, the Breakfast on 21st Menu and table delivery, and TASTE Ghent will of course also continue to offer all of the favorite fare Hampton Roads residents have come to expect and grown to love over the company’s 44-year history.

CALLING ALL BEER & CHEESE LOVERS!

I hosted our second Hops & Cheese: A Beer and Cheese Paring Adventure recently at the TASTE Greenbrier location in Chesapeake. Along with a bevy of beverages from Chesapeake-based Big Ugly Brewing were five different perfectly paired cheeses. Here’s the cheeses we sampled, with a little bit of information about each, along with my Big Ugly Brewing beer pairings, and some other pairing ideas, too.

TASTE turns 43 today! That means I’m a little more than 43, but I’m excited nonetheless. When TASTE was about to open in 1973 I have a distinct memory of Dad - Peter Coe, TASTE’s founder - walking me across Hilltop West’s unpaved parking lot in Virginia Beach to show off the wine and cheese shop that he was about to open - Taste Unlimited.

Seasonal and Simple

The juiciest season of the year has arrived…strawberry season. Here in coastal Virginia, we can’t get enough of these succulent red berries. Indeed, at our monthly Chefs’ Table cooking class we celebrated these local treasures with a recipe so good, we just had to share. Chef Stephen Marsh from Norfolk’s hottest restaurant, Legrand Kitchen, featured delicious strawberries locally-sourced from Pungo, along with Virginia ham and burrata, to create a refreshing salad that you can easily recreate at home to impress your friends and family.

Gather Around the TASTE Table
Join us for our monthly culinary classes - the Chefs’s Table. Patrick Evans-Hylton, celebrated, local chef, hosts an up-close cooking experience with guest chefs from favorite area restaurants. All classes are held demonstration-style and are held in the TASTE kitchen at our Norfolk location in Larchmont. The class begins at 6:30 pm, when guests take their seats in the kitchen for a unique cooking demonstration and eating experience.
